Fairview Sunday School Mission
If you're looking to dive deeply into the Word of God, we have a Bible study (Sunday School) class
available for every age group. You have the option of a singles, coed, ladies or men's class. In
these small group settings we get to know one another and find ways to serve our community.
Our Welcome Center will gladly assist you in finding the right class for you and your family.
Our Vision Statement
Sunday School is the foundational strategy in Fairview Baptist Church for leading people to faith
in the Lord Jesus Christ and for building on-mission Christians through open Bible study groups
that engages people in evangelism, discipleship, fellowship, ministry, and worship.
We are thankful for the quality of teaching that our Adult teachers consistently offer. The extra
hours of Bible study and prayer for members helps to make a great week by week study of God’s
Word. You will note that our structure is different from many other Sunday School’s for several
reasons.
One reason is our belief that a class needs one person as the spiritual leader for the group. We have
Lead Teachers who should set the spiritual tone for the class. We do not use Co-teachers for our
belief that it dilutes the spiritual leadership of the class. A Lead Teacher can more strongly lead a
class to doing responding to Biblical challenges and ministry opportunities. We use the term Teacher
to lead Bible study when the teacher needs relief. We prefer not to use the term “assistant teacher.”
We want to affirm that person when they lead the class in Bible Study. Many are future Lead Teachers.
We want to prepare them for greater service to the Lord and our people.
Our organization attempts to offer something for every person, whether you are single or a couple.
We intentionally offer coed classes that overlap in age. Usually there is a difference in spouse’s
ages and we want to give couples a chance to find a class that meets both of their needs. Our
structure reflects the current class makeup with an eye for that class to be uniquely what
God wants for them to be and to do together. Each class is different in ages of children,
teaching styles, interests and serving opportunities. That uniqueness is good. We urge each
adult class to be and to do ministry as they understand God is directing them to do. We want
God’s Word to come alive for that group of people!
Do note the side column of the adult class listing. That will help you to identify the basic
makeup of the class. We urge you to try a class that you can best apply God’s Word. We
suggest that you try several classes in order to find the relationships that will help you to
grow in knowledge and application of the Bible. Let the class secretary know that you are
ready to be counted as a member.
Adult Sunday School Class Options
We purposely use LifeWay Bible Study materials because they are:
Ø Doctrinally sound.
Ø Educationally sound and age/life appropriate.
Ø They encourage one’s personal growth and devotional life.
Ø They encourage personal witnessing.
Ø They emphasize missions as part of one’s spiritual development.
Ø Cost.
